Finding an affordable and convenient CDL testing site in the area had been a challenge, until now! Penn Commercial recently received certification through the State of Pennsylvania to operate as a commercial driver’s license testing site for Class A, B and C truck drivers. Class A licenses allow for the operation of a combination vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the gross vehicle weight rating of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. This typically includes tractor trailers, tank vehicles, flatbeds and livestock carriers. Class B licenses allow operation of single vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds. Class C is single vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 26,001 pounds if the vehicle is: transporting hazardous materials requiring placarding; is designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver; or, is a school bus.
“Having testing on-site means that students in our CDL Training program will be able to take the exam here at the school rather than an hour away, where we had been going,” says Robert Bazant, President of Penn Commercial. “It also means local businesses, trucking companies and even other schools will be able to get their drivers tested much closer than before.”
The CDL testing center is located at Penn Commercial Business Technical School at 242 Oak Spring Road, Washington, PA 15301. Drivers testing for their CDL license will need to have their CDL learner’s permit. The testing center is available by appointment Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm. Drivers looking to take the CDL exam should call 724-884-1464 to schedule.
