What is HVAC?

HVAC is an acronym that stands for: heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Many times the terms HVAC and HVAC-R are used interchangeably as the R stands for refrigeration and many programs, including the HVAC program at Penn Commercial includes refrigeration training.

Areas covered in the program include:

  • Fundamentals of Electricity
  • DC/AC Circuits
  • System Components, Sealed Systems and Electrical Circuitry
  • HVAC Controls and Diagrams
  • Gas Heating and Add-On Air Conditioning Equipment
  • Oil Heating, Installation and Service of Domestic Equipment
  • Heat Pump and Applications

The HVAC-R program will offer you in-depth training with an understanding that practices in the field are constantly evolving.

How Long is HVAC Training?

Our program will award you the associate in specialized technology degree in only 18 months, allowing you to work in such different settings as homes, office buildings, health care facilities and many others. You can even open your own business and take advantage of the impressive demand for HVAC-R professionals.

Upon your graduation from the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration program you will receive an associate in specialized technology degree. In order to complete your studies, you will have the opportunity to learn all the various areas related to the HVAC-R field, and spend ample time in hands-on learning exercises.

HVAC Training Solutions

Students in the HVAC-R program benefit from a thorough, hands-on learning experience in which they are able to train using the kind of technology, tools and resources they are likely to find when they are employed in the field.
