What is ELDT and why is it important? The Entry-Level Driver Training mandate establishes a set of minimum standards for commercial truck driver education. Effective February 7, 2022, educators will be required to be certified through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This uniform national benchmark ensures that all commercial drivers learn the same basic safety skills, regardless of the state their training is located.
In our CDL program, your instruction will include topics like:
In Penn Commercial’s comprehensive CDL program, students will learn through instructor lectures, hands-on demonstrations, group discussions and audio and visual aids in the classroom. The practical methods of instruction include observation of instructor demonstrations, observing fellow students performing maneuvers and on the road driving by personally performing vehicle maneuvers and by driving the commercial vehicle on road, off road and highways. Penn Commercial’s knowledgeable instructors foster a learning environment dedicated to making sure students have access to the skills required to be successful in the trucking industry.
Students receive real hands-on training in the truck. We don’t use simulators like many other schools.
Graduates of the Commercial Driver’s License Program are eligible to take the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License practical and written examinations for Class “A” commercial vehicle with tanker endorsement. You must be licensed to work in this field. Penn Commercial does not guarantee that a student will pass the examination.
