Over the course of its 95-year history, Penn Commercial has offered a wide variety of programs, from secretarial and business-oriented training to trades such as welding and electrician. For Valerey Rosenwald, her education path brought her to the Business Office Administration program. Today, Valerey works for Waller Corporation in Washington, PA. Her journey from a student at Penn Commercial to a key player at Waller is one of hard work, dedication and ambition.
Throughout her time at Penn Commercial, Valery was drawn to the school’s welcoming environment, which fostered hands-on learning—something she knew was crucial for her success.
“I chose Penn Commercial because the environment was exceptional. This was a hands-on learing environment, which I succeed better with this type of learning.” says Valerey.
Valerey also credits her instructors commitment to their students for putting her on the road to success.
“The instructors taught me to never be afraid to chase your dreams. If you were falling behind in classwork, they offered various after-class tutoring sessions. Not to mention, the instructors were excellent. From after-class conversations, to their exceptional class instruction.”
Valery joined Waller Corporation, a general contractor based in Washington, PA, on April 1, 2019. Today, she is an Administrative Assistant/Director of First Impressions. With her background in business, Valery was well-prepared for her responsibilities, which included project management, supplier and subcontractor invoicing, project closeout documentation, and estimating coordination. Working at Waller Corporation, a company that prides itself on delivering excellence and creating impactful partnerships, Valery was able to apply her skills in a fast-paced, ever-evolving industry.
“I chose this career path because with a business degree, you can explore many career opportunities. From advertising and marketing, economics, finance, human resources, accounting, hospitality, administration, and more,” says Valerey.
For Valery, the construction industry was not just about building physical structures but also about contributing to a company that uplifts communities and creates lasting impact. She believed that anyone with the right skill set and mindset could find a rewarding career in this field, and that’s why she encouraged others to consider it. As her career progresses, Valery remains committed to her personal and professional growth, knowing that the opportunities before her are endless, just as her journey from Penn Commercial to Waller Corporation had been.
