Job Summary

The System administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers.  This individual will install hardware and software and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of the organization. The system administrator will actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.  The system administrator will be a key component of the cyber security team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual environment, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to management for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Understand and implement information security concepts and best practices during every activity. Continually work to reduce risk and enhance information security and assurance.

 Job Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • Preferred Certifications: CompTIA A+, Sec +
  • Preferred: Knowledge of NIST 800-171 Security Framework
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • A high level of interpersonal skill and client service orientation is required
  • Ability to guide internal clients through support issues in-person and over the phone
  • Excellent problem solving, creative thinking, written and oral communication skills
  • Can-do attitude with a demonstrated ability to work both on a team and independently
  • Ability to handle numerous projects across various disciplines simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
  • Willingness to perform other duties and tasks as needed and required by management
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime when needed
  • Must be able to lift, carry, move, and transport objects of up to 40 lb.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks
