Position Overview:

Under general supervision, uses hand tools and electric tools to mount parts, fabricate sheet metal enclosures, assemble power stacks and install power wire and/or wire harness for various products according to job shop instructions and by following Benshaw’s workmanship standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reading and Interpreting Documents: Following blueprints, diagrams, assembly instructions, and other technical documentation to understand how to assemble components.
  • Gathering and Preparing Components: Collecting necessary parts, materials, and tools from designated areas.
  • Using Tools and Equipment: Proficiently using hand tools (like screwdrivers and wrenches), power tools (like drills and impact wrenches), and more specialized equipment.
  • Assembling Components: Connecting parts together according to specifications.
  • Quality Control: Checking the assembled products or subassemblies for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues that may arise during the assembly process.
  • Adjusting and Calibrating: Adjusting machines or subassemblies to ensure proper functioning, according to Indeed.
  • Documentation: Logging productivity, performing inspections, and recording any necessary adjustments or repairs.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possess the basic understanding of measuring to 1/32nd of an inch with a temp measurer, torque tolerance and hardware assembly.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: A natural understanding of how things work mechanically.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: The ability to work with precision and accuracy using tools.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during the assembly process.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Physical Stamina: The ability to lift and handle tools and materials. Lifting up to 30 lbs & standing long periods of your shift.
  • Basic Mathematical Skills: For measuring, calculations, and following instructions.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent required. Technical degree related to wiring or electro mechanical assembly preferred.
