U.S. Predicts 7% Job Growth for Electricians
From 2021 to 2031, the U.S. Department of Labor projects the employment of electricians to grow 7 percent, and expects 79,000 job openings each year.* Green energy including solar and wind power is a new, emerging technology that will lead to a need for trained electricians to install and maintain these systems. The growth of the construction industry will also result in a need for electricians to install electrical wiring and components in new buildings and houses.
Many manufacturing plants and houses may also need electricians who can maintain and repair issues with older electrical equipment as well as install new systems. “Electricians are needed to install and replace these power systems. Alternative power generation, such as solar and wind, is a growing field that should require more electricians for installation. Electricians will continue to be needed to link these alternative systems to homes and power grids over the projections decade.”**
